The Good Life 2007 Challenge Rules

Fabric
Any reproduction of vintage fabrics can be used for this challenge. The project must have at least ten different fabrics not including the background fabric.

Eligibility
The Good Life Designs 2007 Challenge is open to all quilters 18 years or older.
Horizontal and vertical measurements of the quilt entries must be no less than 36” and no more than 60”.

Entry Process
Each entry must be accompanied by an Entry Form; Self Addressed Stamped Envelope; and an Entry Fee. Entry Form and non refundable Entry Fee must be received by June 1, 2007. Entry Fee
There is a non refundable entry fee of $10. All checks should be made payable to “The Good Life Designs”.

Shipping /Dropping Off
Once we receive your entry form, you will get complete instructions for delivery and pick up of your quilts, and a complete list of drop off locations. Please indicate on your entry form if you will be hand delivering or shipping your quilt. Entry forms may be mailed any time between February 2007 and June 1, 2007. After June 1, 2007, the entry form should accompany the quilt.

If you are not dropping your quilt off at an approved drop off location, you may ship your quilt at your own expense. No C.O.D.deliveries will be accepted. All quilts must be shipped in a sturdy, reusable, well labeled box. Do not use packing pellets. Place each quilt in a plastic bag. If you want to be notified of your entry’s arrival, enclose a SASE or a postcard in the box. All entries must be received by June 1, 2007.

Entrants desiring return shipping should enclose the following items inside the shipping box with their entry: a preaddressed return label, a check or money order for the return postage and insurance made payable to “The Good Life Designs”.

Liability
“The Good Life Designs” assumes no responsibility for quilts in transit to and from the drop off points. Entrants are responsible for insurance during shipping to and from the show. We will do our best to protect your quilt while it is on display. We recommend that you cover your entry with proper insurance through your homeowner’s policy. A certified appraisal for insurance purposes is needed if the value of your quilt is greater than the cost of the materials.

Other Terms
Quilt makers submitting quilts, grant “The Good Life Designs” permission to photograph their work for use in advertising, promotion, and/or publication including electronic media.

Rules

  1. Any of the vintage reproduction fabrics can be used for this challenge. At least 50% of the quilt top must be the vintage reproduction challenge fabric. Any amount of any other fabric may be used.
  2. Horizontal and vertical measurements of the quilt entries must be no less than 36” and no more than 60”.
  3. Entries may be pieced, appliquéd, or mixed techniques, hand or machine quilted. Quilt design must be the original creation of the entrant. The quilt must consist of three layers – top, batting, backing. Only finished projects will be accepted.
  4. Entries must have a legible cloth label on the back bottom right corner of the quilt with the quilt maker’s name, address, phone number, and quilt title. The label must include the same name and address that is on the entry form.
  5. Each entry must have a 4” sleeve attached to the top, back of the quilt. The sleeve should be attached in such a way that it is not visible when the quilt is hanging.
  6. Entry must not be soiled or damaged in any way. It must be fragrance, smoke and odor free.
  7. Judging will focus on the creative use of the challenge fabric, originality, and workmanship. Embellishments such as beads, buttons, thread, etc. are allowed.
  8. We reserve the right to reject any unqualified or misrepresented quilt. All decisions of the judges are final.
